Meet Our Team
Dr. Carlos Gandara
Born in Torreon, Cuahuila and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Dr. Carlos made a choice at the age of 18 to become an American citizen as both of his parents were born in Texas. Carlos grew up knowing that he wanted to become a doctor. It is very hard for him to see people suffering so he chose veterinary medicine over human medicine. In 1984, he graduated from veterinary school at the University of Guadalajara and then headed to Minnesota to visit family and “check out the snow”. He met his future wife, Sharyl, and quickly learned to speak English.
Anxious to start his career, he began practicing veterinary medicine in the Twin Cities while studying for his license. Foreign graduates must pass a rigorous series of exams. Carlos worked extremely hard and with a lot of determination to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license here in the state of Minnesota.
He and Sharyl married in 1988 and they have two daughters. Carlos and his family live in Minneapolis with their dog “Sola”.
In his free time Carlos loves to fish. Ocean fishing is his passion but he will not turn away a chance to catch a Northern here in Minnesota. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family, soccer, Viking football, and western movies. He can fix most anything that is broken and his close friends consider him a connoiseur of aged Tequila.
Owning his own veterinary clinic was a dream that he worked to make come true. He has high standards and always strives to be the best doctor that he can be.
Dr. Barb Ault
Dr. Ault began her professional life as an attorney. Later she went back to school to become a veterinarian. Dr. Barb brings positive energy, a gentle demeanor and her medical expertise to Companion Veterinary Hospital. She has several cats and dogs at home and even an Iguana named Izador, she gardens, owns rental property in Arizona and makes raspberry jam and the most delicious french onion soup for the holidays. We are most fortunate to have her wisdom, humor and skills on our team!
Tracy, Assistant Office Manager and Veterinary Technician
I graduated in 2011 with an AAS in Veterinary Technology from Minnesota School of Business. I have a one eye'd cat named Jersey and a pitbull named Love. I am one of the biggest jokers here so you'll most likely find me smiling or laughing. I recently took on a new role here at CVH as a Manager. I may not be working directly with animals but I am enjoying the business side of Veterinary Medicine. My favorite aspects of being a vet tech are lab work, exams, and I love seeing all the fur babies. When I am not at CVH, you'll find me fishing, swimming, watching Marvel movies, playing video games or cuddling with my dog.
Laure, Certified Veterinary Technician
I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and graduated from Minnesota School of Business in 2009. I have worked for emergency clinics, specialty clinics as well as private practice. I am married, have 2 young children, and 2 cats so I am one busy mama but I love every minute of it! I work part time and spend the rest of my time taking care of my family. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, and watching movies.
